State Building Services delivers Essential Services.
March 24, 2020
Earlier today, Mecklenburg County, which covers the greater Charlotte region, issued a “Stay at Home” Proclamation for non-essential businesses and most personal travel. This is by far the most restrictive order to date and more draconian than what has been issued by the state of North Carolina to combat the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Other counties in North Carolina and the Southeast are expect to issue similar proclamations in the coming days.
We have read the Proclamation, including how the Proclamation defines various essential business functions and operations that are permitted to continue during the term of the Proclamation, which is valid through April 16, 2020.
Section 5 of the Proclamation is entitled “Essential Infrastructure.” It allows for individuals to “leave their residence to provide any services or perform any work necessary to offer, provision, operate, maintain or repair Essential Infrastructure.” The term “Essential Infrastructure” is then defined and includes many types of operations and services, including but not limited to “building management and maintenance.”
The full Proclamation can be read here:
Our services, particularly our sanitizing services in addition to our stone, metal and wood maintenance services, fall under Essential Services as defined by the Proclamation. We are proud to continue to serve our customers and be a valuable partner in these new and challenging times.
With that said, we don’t take these times lightly. Each member of our team is taking every available precaution for personal safety and following the recommendations of the CDC to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. We will continue to monitor future governmental directives as well as the health and safety of our staff. We are most certainly all in this together.
